Name: Planetary Ball Mill XN-ZQM Series
Equipment Type: Benchtop Planetary Ball Mill with Dry, Wet, Vacuum, and Inert-Atmosphere Grinding Modes
Product Code: XN-ZQM
Brand: Xnergy
Product Introduction:
XN-ZQM Series Planetary Ball Mill is a benchtop high-speed planetary ball mill for nano-scale grinding, mixing, and dispersion of dry powders, slurries, and atmosphere-sensitive materials. The series includes two models — XN-ZQM-2L (50–500 mL grinding jars, 50–250 mL vacuum jars) and XN-ZQM-4L (50–1000 mL grinding jars, 50–500 mL vacuum jars) — and supports four grinding modes: dry, wet, vacuum, and inert-atmosphere. An oil-seal silent design reduces operating noise and extends service life, while a digital display with one-button operation and 15-program memory simplifies repeated process runs.
Key Features:
Four grinding modes — dry, wet, vacuum, and inert (protective) atmosphere
Oil-seal silent design — lower operating noise and longer service life than conventional planetary ball mills
Self-locking safety door that opens only when the machine is stopped
Cover opening with safety switch and anti-loosening self-locking
Caster wheels for easy repositioning in the lab
Digital screen display with one-button operation
Programmable timer with up to 15 saved programs
Power-off memory with self-restart after power restoration
Sun-wheel speed 5–400 rpm; jar speed 10–800 rpm
Available in two models (XN-ZQM-2L and XN-ZQM-4L) covering grinding-jar sizes from 50 mL to 1 L
Series Specifications:
| Model | Grinding Jar Size | Vacuum Jar Size | Sun Wheel Speed | Jar Speed | Power | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XN-ZQM-2L | 50 – 500 mL | 50 – 250 mL | 5 – 400 rpm | 10 – 800 rpm | 0.75 kW | 98 kg |
| XN-ZQM-4L | 50 – 1000 mL | 50 – 500 mL | 5 – 400 rpm | 10 – 800 rpm | 0.75 kW | 100 kg |
The two models share the same drive and control platform; the difference is total grinding-jar capacity. Power supply is configurable to local electrical standards.
Operating Modes:
Dry grinding — for dry powder size reduction, mixing, and alloying
Wet grinding — for slurry milling, particle-size reduction in solvent, and dispersion
Vacuum grinding — using vacuum jars for oxygen-sensitive materials or for de-gassing during grinding
Protective-atmosphere grinding — under inert gas inside the jars for moisture- and oxygen-sensitive chemistries such as lithium metal, sodium metal, sulfide solid electrolytes, and reactive powders
Application Areas:
XN-ZQM Series is suitable for:
Lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery active-material development — powder size reduction, surface coating, mechanochemical activation
Solid-state electrolyte preparation (sulfide and oxide systems) where atmosphere control is critical
Nano-powder grinding and dispersion for cathode, anode, and electrolyte research
Mechanochemical synthesis of intermetallics, alloys, and composite materials
General laboratory milling, mixing, and homogenization
Maintenance:
Clean the equipment regularly with a soft cloth lightly moistened with alcohol
Lubricate moving parts periodically to ensure smooth operation
If the equipment is not used for an extended period, clean the moving surfaces and apply a protective anti-rust coating
Periodically inspect screws, nuts, pins, and other fasteners to prevent loosening
Inspect jar seals (especially vacuum jars) before each atmosphere-controlled run
Safety Notes:
Do not open the safety door while the machine is running — the door is interlocked but should not be forced
Operation should be performed by a single trained operator
Disassembly should only be performed by qualified technicians
For vacuum and inert-atmosphere modes, verify jar seal integrity before starting a run
Specifications are provided for reference and may be adjusted to suit specific process requirements. Grinding jars and grinding media are specified at order time according to the target material and process.
Note: Specifications listed above are typical and for reference only. Actual grinding performance depends on the input material properties, grinding-media selection, jar-fill ratio, and process parameters. XN-ZQM Series sits on the upstream side of the electrode-preparation workflow, before slurry mixing — its value is mechanical material processing (size reduction, surface modification, alloying) rather than slurry homogenization. The inert-atmosphere and vacuum jar modes in particular are why this machine is chosen for sulfide solid-electrolyte work and for reactive metal-anode chemistries, where conventional planetary mixers cannot prevent oxygen and moisture exposure. Once a milled powder is ready for slurry preparation, the downstream step depends on slurry batch size: small R&D batches go to the benchtop Planetary Vacuum Mixer XN-PVM-500mL, contamination-sensitive samples to the bladeless XN-PVMC-150mL centrifugal mixer, and pilot-scale batches to the XN-PVM-2L or XN-PVM-5L.
