Product Introduction

Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) is a highly stable lithium salt distinguished by its large, charge-delocalized TFSI⁻ anion and exceptional thermal and electrochemical stability. Unlike LiPF₆, LiTFSI does not decompose in the presence of trace moisture to generate HF, making it significantly easier to handle. However, TFSI⁻ corrodes aluminum current collectors at voltages above ~3.7 V vs. Li/Li⁺, which limits its use in conventional carbonate-based cells with Al cathode foil. LiTFSI is the preferred salt for solid-state electrolytes, ionic liquid electrolytes, polymer electrolytes (PEO/LiTFSI), and gel polymer systems where Al corrosion is not an issue.
