Name: SSPN Composite Cathode (S90D Polymer Sulfur + SPAN)

Material Form: Black powder

Product Code: XN-SSPN

Description:

SSPN is a composite cathode active material formulated from two complementary components: S90D polymer sulfur, which delivers high theoretical capacity through stable polymer-sulfur chains, and SPAN (sulfurized polyacrylonitrile), which provides a covalently bonded carbon-nitrogen framework that anchors sulfur and suppresses polysulfide dissolution. The hybrid architecture achieves >79 wt% sulfur content — significantly higher than conventional SPAN — while retaining the structural integrity needed for stable cycling in lithium-sulfur batteries.

Application:

Cathode active material for high-energy-density lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. Suitable for UAV, drone, and eVTOL battery applications targeting 500+ Wh/kg specific energy, as well as HAPS, defense, aerospace, and Li-S battery R&D in coin, pouch, and prismatic cell formats.

Characteristics:

Higher sulfur loading than standard SPAN

Standard SPAN cathodes contain ~50 wt% sulfur. SSPN composite achieves >79 wt% — a step-change improvement that translates into higher gravimetric capacity at the cathode level.

Hybrid composite architecture

The S90D + SPAN structure preserves the polysulfide-shuttle suppression of covalent SPAN chemistry while unlocking the higher capacity ceiling of polymer sulfur, suitable for aviation-grade Li-S pouch cells targeting 500+ Wh/kg.

Fine, uniform particle distribution

D10 = 3.43 μm, D50 = 7.14 μm, D[4,3] = 8.43 μm. Powder coats uniformly into thin, dense electrodes with consistent batch-to-batch electrochemistry.

Ultra-low metal impurities

Total metals 94.49 ppm against a 500 ppm spec. Cu, Ni, Zn, Pb all below detection limits, preventing parasitic reactions in finished cells.

Packaging & Storage:

Aluminum-laminated, moisture-proof vacuum-sealed bags or HDPE bottles. Sealing performed under dry inert atmosphere when required. Store in a cool, dry, sealed environment away from moisture. Reseal promptly after opening.

Safety:

For research and industrial use only. Avoid inhalation of dust. Wear PPE (masks, gloves, safety goggles). Handle in a dry environment. Refer to SDS for complete safety information.

Note: Values listed above are typical and for reference only. Performance may vary depending on cell architecture, electrolyte selection, and test protocol.
