YT08 vs YT02: Reference Electrode Design Comparison
The reference electrode design of YT02 CG is more convenient for placing the diaphragm compared to the silver chloride reference electrode style of YT08 CG.
Characteristics:
Swagelok-style three-electrode architecture
The YT08 follows the Swagelok-style cell convention — a standardized cylindrical assembly used in laboratory electrochemistry research.
Silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode style
The YT08 features a silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode style.
PTFE and copper construction
The YT08 is built with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and copper. PTFE is a fluoropolymer known for its high chemical inertness against a wide range of chemicals.
Three working-electrode material options
The YT08 ships with a choice of three working-electrode materials: titanium alloy, pure titanium, or high-purity molybdenum. The selection is made by the customer based on their specific research application.
Working pressure of 50 MPa
The YT08 is rated for a working pressure of 50 MPa.
Operating conditions ≤ 200 °C
The operating temperature limit of the YT08 is ≤ 200 °C.
Wide working-electrode diameter range (φ10–20 mm)
The φ10–20 mm working-electrode diameter range supports a range of laboratory electrochemistry sample sizes.
φ6 mm reference electrode diameter
The reference electrode port accommodates electrodes with a φ6 mm diameter.
Customization available on request
The YT08 can be customized and modified as required. Contact Xnergy for configuration options that match your specific research requirements.
Recommended Operating Procedure:
1. Clean all components (PTFE body, copper components, electrode columns, reference electrode port) with isopropyl alcohol or other suitable cleaning solvent before each use; dry thoroughly. 2. Select the desired working-electrode material (titanium alloy, pure titanium, or high-purity molybdenum) and prepare the user-supplied silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. 3. Assemble the cell components, including the working electrode, counter electrode, and reference electrode, in their designated positions. 4. Tighten the Swagelok-style fittings; do not exceed the rated working pressure of 50 MPa. 5. Fill the cell with the appropriate electrolyte. 6. Connect the cell electrodes to the potentiostat via three-electrode configuration cables. 7. Operate within the specified temperature limit of ≤ 200 °C. 8. After testing, allow the cell to cool to room temperature, release pressure gradually, drain electrolyte safely, and clean all components before storage. Store the silver chloride reference electrode separately according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Packaging & Storage:
The YT08 ships with all components, including the PTFE/copper cell body, selected working-electrode columns (titanium alloy, pure titanium, or high-purity molybdenum), reference electrode port assembly, Swagelok-style fittings, and assembly hardware. Store in a dry environment at room temperature, protected from dust and chemical exposure. After each use, clean wetted-surface components, dry thoroughly, and store in a clean, dry environment. The silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode is user-supplied and must be stored separately according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Safety:
For research and industrial laboratory use only. Do not exceed the maximum working pressure (50 MPa) or operating temperature (200 °C). Always wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves, lab coat) when handling electrolytes. For elevated-temperature operation, allow the cell to cool to room temperature before any disassembly. Take particular care with silver chloride reference electrodes — handle and dispose of according to standard laboratory protocols. Refer to the included user manual for complete safety and operating instructions.
Note: Specifications listed above are typical and for reference only. Actual performance and chemical compatibility depend on the specific electrolyte, electrode material, reference electrode condition, and experimental conditions — consult published literature for guidance on specific three-electrode electrochemistry protocols. The silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode is not included with the YT08 and must be sourced separately.
