Initial Cleaning:

A protective anti-rust oil may be present on the die when it leaves the factory. Before first use, wipe the die with a cloth lightly moistened with alcohol. Insert a compatible material into the feed opening and move it back and forth several times, then make several test cuts with paper. Black coloration around the die is part of the normal manufacturing process.
