Product Introduction

Fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) has become the most widely used electrolyte additive for silicon-based anodes. Unlike EC, FEC decomposes at a higher reduction potential and generates a LiF-rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) that is both mechanically flexible and highly ion-conductive. This LiF-rich SEI can accommodate the large volume expansion of silicon particles during lithiation without cracking, dramatically extending cycle life in Gr/Si composite and Si-dominant anodes. At concentrations as low as 5–10 vol%, FEC significantly improves first-cycle coulombic efficiency and long-term capacity retention.
