Product Introduction

1,3-Propane sultone (PST) is a cyclic sulfonate ester additive that preferentially decomposes on the graphite anode surface at a reduction potential above that of the carbonate co-solvents. The resulting sulfonate-rich SEI layer provides a more mechanically stable and ionically conductive interphase than the carbonate-derived SEI from EC alone, leading to lower interfacial impedance and reduced capacity fade over extended cycling. Used typically at 0.5–2 wt% in LiPF₆ electrolyte formulations, PST has a well-documented track record in both academic research and commercial cell development.
